Chain of custody is an important factor in dealing with end-of-life technology disposal. Clients must be able to prove that the releasing of electronic equipment is followed from departure to its final destination.
Resale Technologies provides clients with a bill of lading at the time of pickup. All shipments are then tracked electronically and are tagged with IAT (internal asset tags) numbers at time of receipt.
Companies are responsible for inventory control and paper trail of equipment if they were ever audited. This is to include serial numbers, asset tag numbers and date the equipment was decommissioned. Companies will then have to show evidence that they have indeed wiped or physically destroy any type of data storage devices. Resale Technologies performs a detailed audit and inventory of your equipment. Each piece is tested, tracked, and reported in a final report, which can be delivered electronically or viewed online via our online client portal. The audit report consists of the following:
Resale Technologies uses the data erasure standard (DoD 5220.22-M Erase) used by the department of Defense to sanitize your drives. This process will permanently erase systems, programs files, viruses and all of your data, safeguarding your software licensing agreements. Hard drives that do not boot to BIOS, loose hard drives, and other electronic media are physically destroyed using our hard drive crusher. At the end of the audit process and data destruction phase you will receive a insured certificate of destruction that indemnifies you or your clients, of any legal wrongdoings in regards to improper technology disposal and data destruction.
Resale Technologies helps manage the entire redeployment and secured storage process.
Our online system allows you to view your equipments audit results and provides you with flexible tools to simplify the process of distributing equipment with your company.
Redeployments can be managed by a designated administrator or by authorized end users.
Recycling Laws are not just restricted to computer equipment. Electronic equipment may contain lead, chromium, cadmium, mercury and other hazardous metals. Proper disposal and handling of these materials is essential for the protection of our environment. For older or non-functional equipment we perform a complete de-manufacturing of the units for segregation into component levels. Our clients receive a complete waiver of Liability for all disposed and recycled pieces.
Some companies do not allow for their equipment to be resold in the aftermarket. For clients like these, all items will audited, data destroyed and sent to our de-manufacturing department for disassembly and separation. Once the items have been separated they are turned over to our recycling division for shredding, smelting and final destination. Once completed, clients will receive detailed audit report, certificate of destruction, and invoice. Reporting and Certification Timeframe: 10 Business Days from Receipt
